Concentrate on One Project at a Time
Do you ever wonder why you’re not progressing on your path as a writer? Here I explain how focusing on one goal at a time will lead to ultimate success.
The last time I went to London, my brother recommended a book. It’s called ‘The One Thing’ by Gary Keller.
‘Oh cool’ I said, ‘can I borrow it?’
‘No, I didn’t buy it. The title says it all’. He grinned at me. ‘I mean, it’s pretty self-explanatory. Focus on one thing at a time and you’ll get there’.
I laughed and agreed that it did sound pretty simple. I’ve noticed this is true with anything worth accomplishing. As long as you stick to it and do a little bit every day you’ll get somewhere at one point.
You can compare it to digging a large hole. If you were to dig in a different spot everyday, it would take a long time to get to a decent depth. However, digging in the same spot would give you significant results in a shorter span of time.
Here is quote from Martin Lings:
‘Like a man who tries to find water by digging a little here and a little there and who will die of thirst; a man who digs deep in one spot…will find water; he will drink and give others to drink’
